As the Town of Normal has continued its massive redevelopment project over the last 20 years, ISU has embarked on its own revitalization journey. In 2011, roughly $20 million was invested to redevelop Hancock Football Stadium and another $49.6 million in 2008 into a new, combined student recreation center and kinesiology school. The 170,000 square foot recreation facility was placed where the Dunn-Barton residence halls previously were and would be attached to McCormick Hall. Together, the two buildings house Campus Recreation, Health Promotion and Wellness, and the School of Kinesiology and Recreation. Mid Illinois Mechanical installed new processed water, condensate, utilities, and steam piping tied into a steam tunnel shared between ISU facilities.
Date of Project: 2008-2010
